Genuine Companionship

prison pen pal Hello Ladies! What if you had a chance to get to know one of the coolest, incredibly considerate, kind and down—to—earth guy you could ever meet, but in order to do so you would have to go some place where you normally would not go—a place that is notorious for its despicable content—and introduce yourself to this guy, would you take that chance? Well, the fact that you are here guided by your curiosity suggests that you are willing to put uncertainty and fear aside momentarily to explore a different side of life in search of something good, something extraordinary, something exciting.

My name is Brian Davis. Although I have never done anything like this before, I thought posting myself on the internet would be an interesting, pleasant and learning experience for a guy like myself who likes to explore. My aim here isn’t to find a love interest or quell a lonely mood. Instead, my hope is simply to meet a woman who I can learn from, share laughs with, discuss our experiences and interests about life, and possibly build a lasting and meaningful friendship. It is said that true friendship lasts forever, and that is something certainly worth pursuing—even if it means venturing into the unknown.

Like most men in prison, I have spent the time focusing on developing and understanding myself because (a) the phrase “Know Thyself” is a proven truism that offers many interesting answers about life; (b) I live in a world that has no mercy for the uneducated; and (c) self—actualization truly determines how far one can excel in life.

I am an avid reader largely because I enjoy reading and because I one day want to author a book that does more than just offer entertainment. I am particularly interested in history and philosophy; history because the past really does explain the present, which generally tends to boggle many of us; and philosophy because the mind of a true philosopher is ruled by reason rather than his emotions, and I admire that.

I have a paralegal degree which I decided to pursue more out of necessity rather than my own personal self—interest. I am currently pursuing a degree in business simply because I understand that the wages earned at a Burger King will not allow me to live the way that I want to or do the things that I like doing. Still, that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t start at Burger King if I had to.

I believe that it is prudent and sometimes necessary to judge others around us even though we are often told not to because not judging invariably causes us to miss important signs that may have prevented us from experiencing a life-time of headache and regret. Contrary to what we are told, judging is not a bad thing. However, judging only works well when we understand and embrace the importance of being fair and not comparing the actions of others to the prejudices etched in our heads caused by bad experiences that rule our past. We all have personal prejudices that distorts our vision of reality, and to struggle against them is to strive for honesty.

I am a humble and patient soul who rather listen instead of talking. I believe in being charitable because giving our service reminds us of the importance of compassion and that we aren’t so much different from one another. I also believe that sometimes helping others reach their goal brings us closer to our own.

I appreciate the simple and often overlooked things in life because being in prison has made it so. I enjoy virtually all genre of music probably for the same reasons why the rest of the world enjoys music. I believe melodic sounds communicate well with the soul, inviting peace.

I try to be straight-forward in the things that I do, and consider my word as a badge of honor. So I only give my word when I am certain that I can keep it. I think stupidity is the greatest burden that could ever befall anyone, and I dislike arrogance because it distorts life’s most treasured qualities while giving approval and credence to selfishness. I am not a religious person, but I do realize that there is a much greater Force than me that is responsible for what we call life.

I am adventurous, but I have my limits. I have an undying passion for riding motorcycles, particularly sport bikes. I’m a health buff, but not to the point of fanaticism; just enough to stay healthy and in shape. Since our bodies are our carriage, I try to do what’s necessary to keep my own performing at its best.

Having said that, I wanna girl with extensions in her hair, bamboo ear-rings, at least three pairs, a Fendi bag and a bad attitude... Just kidding (smile). That’s a line from one of my favorite LL Cool J songs. Seriously though, although we live in a world where “looks” is consistently emphasized, to the experienced soul, “looks” isn’t everything. Relationships, be it friendship or otherwise, lasts because of how each person feels about the other. That said, I would be happy if this leap that I have taken here leads to me building just one friendship that lasts for the rest of my life. Under the circumstances, that would truly be amazing.

So, if any of you ladies reading this profile decides that getting to know me is worth your time and effort, you know what to do... Bamboo ear—rings or not, it’s all good—so long as you have a lovely smile. Brian Davis, aka “Anthony”
